Athabasca University

Frequently Asked Questions

This page aims to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Humanities program at Athabasca University, and also to provide an update on the current state of development of the program.

Can I take an entire degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities?

Yes, you can. You have a choice of either the Concentration in Humanities within the 3-year B.A. or the Major in Humanities within the 4-year B.A.

Can I apply courses that I have taken at other universities to my Athabasca University B.A. (Humanities)?

Yes, you can. Consult the B.A. degree regulations for the number of "external" credits you are permitted to apply to the degree of your choice (3-year or 4-year).

Are there sufficient courses available for me to complete the degree program using only Athabasca University courses?

Yes, there are. However, because the program is still under development, your choice of courses is still fairly restricted.
